Technologies

The Keep Moving system primarily uses the programming languages Java, Python and Kotlin. PostGreSQL and Oracle are used as database systems. An ActiveMQ-based service framework developed by the DLR Institute of Transportation Systems is used for communication between the Keep Moving modules. RESTful, SOAP, JSON and XML are available as technologies for data exchange (internal and external).

Real-time traffic information from various data sources is used for the different modes of transport and merged appropriately to provide integrated traffic information with the widest possible coverage. These include, for example:

  • Floating Car Data (FCD) from taxis and buses
  • Local municipal traffic detection (induction loops, traffic eyes, video cameras, etc.)
  • Third-party traffic information
  • Broadcast messages (TMC, TPEG)
  • Timetable and operational status data for municipal transport companies
