Future Propulsion Test Facility

The Future Propulsion Test Facility (FPT) is a modular development and validation platform for disruptive propulsion technologies of the future, with a focus on the use of hydrogen. The test bench can be used to research, validate and further develop component and system technologies for liquid and gaseous hydrogen (LH2/GH2) and nitrogen (LN2/GN2) for conditioning systems with the main components LH2 pump and heat exchanger. The FPT pursues a holistic approach to accelerate development times. To this end, the research work is supplemented by the institute's expertise in the development of simulation software tools for dimensioning at component and system level and supported in validation by minimally invasive optical measurement technology. The focus is on the entire development chain, starting at a low test readiness level (TRL2).

Thanks to its modular design the test bench enables cross-industry innovation exchange between the aviation, energy and marine sectors. If you are interested, we would be happy to advise you on the possibilities of using our test bench for your research and development. Please contact us.
