With regard to the planned structural change and a local contribution to the model of the Central German lignite mining area, the focus of research in Cochstedt is on the topic of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). Together with the DLR National Test Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems, the Competence Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems is to form the nucleus for an even broader establishment of promising research activities in the field of UAS.
