MRO Monday 2026

MRO Monday 2026 took place on 4 and 5 May at the ZAL TechCenter in Hamburg-Finkenwerder. This year’s focus was on competitiveness through smart maintenance.

MRO Monday 2026 brought together leading stakeholders from aviation research and industry on 4 and 5 May 2026 at the ZAL TechCenter Hamburg. Hosted by the DLR Institute of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul, experts discussed current developments and future perspectives in the field of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) under the overarching theme “Competitiveness through smart maintenance”.

The opening sessions focused on insights into successful collaborative projects between industry and research. The programme was further enriched by numerous contributions from external speakers from the industry, who provided practical perspectives on current challenges and innovative solution approaches. The accompanying exhibition also offered insights into modern diagnostic, robotics and automation solutions and was widely used for networking and professional exchange.

On the second day of the event, parallel sessions explored key future topics in the MRO sector in greater depth. Discussions covered, among other things, sustainable competitiveness, AI-supported assistance systems for maintenance, new requirements arising from innovative aircraft concepts, data-driven approaches, automation technologies and condition-based maintenance. Here, too, industry representatives provided valuable input and reported on concrete use cases.

With its interdisciplinary approach, the MRO Monday provides an important platform for discussing the current state of MRO research and for shaping the future of maintenance in aviation.
