On Monday, 5 July 2021, the state of Baden-Württemberg officially presented the RegioWIN 2030 certificate to the Heilbronn-Franken region for its participation in the competition for sustainable regional development. The region was honoured by the jury with three award-winning lighthouse projects: "HYDROGENIUM", "I3-Lab" and "AI-TRAQC – AI Training & Qualification Campus". The projects will be incorporated into the regional development concept of the Heilbronn-Franken region "Heilbronn-Franken on the road to the future – change in a rural region".

Heilbronn University, the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO), Wirtschaftsförderung Raum Heilbronn GmbH and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) are working together on the "HYDROGENIUMF" project with the aim of establishing a test, application and transfer centre at the DLR site in Lampoldshausen to support SMEs in the development and testing of hydrogen technologies. The project is being managed by Wirtschaftsförderung Raum Heilbronn GmbH. The project is subsidised by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the European Regional Development Fund (EFFRE).
