DIH-HERO Conference

Knowledge exchange on regulations and standardisation, funding opportunities and developments in robotics in the healthcare sector are on the agenda of the DIH-HERO Knowledge Conference. The institute is helping to organise the free online conference as part of the DIH-HERO consortium. It will take place on 19 and 20 May 2021.

Digital Innovation Hubs in Healthcare Robotics, or DIH-HERO for short, is an independent platform for healthcare robotics with the purpose of supporting companies in the healthcare sector.

The DIH-HERO project, which is funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 programme, aims to support companies from the healthcare sector in exploiting the opportunities of digitalisation, strengthening exchange and expertise and initiating cross-regional collaborations. The goals of the network are a closer exchange between science and companies, with a particular focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), faster market introduction of innovative products and mutual support.

17 consortium partners from 11 European countries are involved in DIH-HERO. One of these partners is the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics with its MIRO Innovation Lab. The SMiLE (Service Robotics for People with Disabilities) and VVITA (Validation Virtual Therapy Arm) projects also contribute to the network's expertise and contacts. In addition to DLR, the Fraunhofer IPA and Aachen University Hospital are participating from Germany. The project is coordinated by the Dutch University of Twente.
