KI-Familie
Research into increasing road safety, making more efficient use of the existing transport network (especially in urban areas) and making mobility as resource- and environmentally friendly as possible are currently highly relevant to our everyday lives, as is the creation of new, digitalised business models. Technical processes must operate with a high level of reliability and performance, particularly in order to guarantee the security and performance of new system solutions. This is achieved by a key technology - artificial intelligence (AI).
A central building block for the design of intelligent mobility solutions lies in the area of automated and connected driving. Here, the projects from the KI Familie of the VDA flagship initiative "Autonomous and Connected Driving" are providing new impetus. With the innovative approach of the AI project family, the flagship initiative is tackling the challenges of making the key technology of AI available for automated driving. It consists of four projects funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), which have their own focal points but work closely together: KI Absicherung, KI Delta Learning, KI Data Tooling and KI Wissen.
The overarching objectives are the development of methods for adequate functional validation, for handling learning and test data, for combining knowledge with machine learning and the development of tools for the efficient expansion and transformation of existing AI modules.
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is involved in all projects and works closely with project participants from industry and science.
There is also intensive cooperation with the TPX, VV-Methods and SETLevel projects.
