The Flight Software Department develops real-time software for aircraft and spacecraft that is not only reliable but also highly resilient.
The Intelligent and Distributed Systems Department focuses on the research, design and improvement of complex systems and processes in a research and application context.

The Visual Computing and Engineering Department focuses on collaborative modelling and immersive visualisation of digital twins, and interactive visualisation and analysis of scientific data.
The High-Performance Computing Department develops methods for complex computations and parallel processing of large amounts of data on high-performance computers. In addition to developing software for classical computer clusters and EXASCALE-class computers, the department is also researching applications for quantum computers.
As an institute, we focus on the quality, security, usability and sustainability of our software solutions and keep our development processes clear and transparent. Knowledge transfer and cooperation with partners inside and outside DLR are at the heart of our efforts to anchor our research in the long term.
