Competition for sustainable regional development

Handover of the RegioWIN 2030 certificate
Dr. Daniela Lindner, Head of the Applied Hydrogen Technologies Department, accepts the RegioWIN certificate.

On Monday, July 5, 2021, the state of Baden-Württemberg officially presented the RegioWIN 2030 certificate to the Heilbronn-Franken region for its participation in the competition for sustainable regional development. The region was recognized by the jury with three award-winning lighthouse projects: "HYDROGENIUM", "I3-Lab" and "AI-TRAQC – AI Training & Qualification Campus". The projects will be incorporated into the Heilbronn-Franconia region's regional development concept "Heilbronn-Franconia on the road to the future – change in a rural region".

In the "HYDROGENIUM" project, Heilbronn University, the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO), Wirtschaftsförderung Raum Heilbronn GmbH and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) are working together at the Lampoldshausen site with the aim of setting up a test, application and transfer center to support SMEs in the development and testing of hydrogen technologies. The project is managed by the Heilbronn Region Economic Development Agency. The project is funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the European Regional Development Fund (EFFRE).
