RM at the ILA Berlin

The future of aerospace with a focus on innovation, new technologies and sustainability as well as the future of climate-neutral flying and new mobility were the topics at ILA Berlin from 4 to 9 June 2024. This year's motto of the trade fair was: "Pioneering Aerospace for a save, sustainable and connected world". The institute presented the MMX Rover IDEFIX and the on-orbit servicing simulator for orbital robotics.

With around 500 square metres, DLR is the largest institutional exhibitor at the ILA. "For DLR as a German research and technology centre, the ILA is the leading international trade fair for aerospace. The intensive exchange of knowledge offers us extensive opportunities to discuss new projects and missions. Thanks to our close cooperation with industry and business, accompanied by strong political support, we are in a position to strengthen Germany as a business and science location with our technologies," emphasises Prof. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla, Chair of the DLR Executive Board. "Together, we are paving the way for climate-friendly aviation. By utilising space travel, we can quantify emission sources and determine their impact on climate change. We are also combining our expertise in aeronautics and space with our competencies in energy, transport and digitalisation, enabling us to develop our potential for security and defence research at DLR."

The research work could be found in Hall 4 (Stand 300), in the Space Pavilion (Hall 4) and at the stand of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) in Hall 2 (Stand 220). The DLR stand had an integrated stage this year. DLR produced a varied programme there during the days of the fair: In moderated talks, representatives from DLR's Executive Board and research gave insights into current projects and missions - live on site and in a live stream on DLR's YouTube channel. DLR also reported daily from the ILA on X and Instagram.
