Mobile pump and heat transfer fluid test stand (MOPUW)
The new test stand in Cologne-Porz makes it possible to demonstrate and research new types of heat transfer fluids on a pilot plant scale with limited effort.

Really hot oil – The mobile pump and heat transfer fluid test stand (MOPUW) enables tests with thermal oils up to 500 degrees Celsius in continuous operation.

The tests provide insights into the ageing of a thermal oil at high temperatures over time and which reaction products must be specifically removed from the closed oil circuit so that stable operation is possible in the long term.

During operation, oil samples including the dissolved gases can be taken and analysed in the adjacent heat transfer fluid laboratory. The system also includes an ageing section for material samples.

In addition to the operating behaviour of heat transfer fluids, fluid technology components such as pumps, valves, heating elements, sensors and seals can be tested on a technical scale. The test stand also allows the connection of peripheral systems such as treatment systems, reactors or energy storage units, which can be supplied with the available heating capacity of a maximum of 50 kilowatts with flow temperatures of up to 500 degrees Celsius. Pressures of up to 50 bar are possible in the system. Oil fillings of between 100 and 250 litres can be examined and modified as required.
