Launch of the 5th SFERA-III transnational access campaign

Synlight in action
The High-flux solar simulator Synlight at DLR's Jülich site irradiates one of the three experimental chambers.
  • The 5th SFERA-III access campaign has opened.
  • After submitting their projects, selected teams of researchers can once again gain free access to a total of 18 installations.
  • These are located in 8 state-of-art research infrastructures in Concentrated Solar Thermal power in 6 countries.

DLR will also open one of its research facilities as a partner of the campaign: With the Synlight High-Flux solar simulator, the largest artificial sun in the world, targeted solar irradiations in the kWatt range are possible under laboratory conditions.

Further participating research institutions of the campaign as well as their facilities can be found under the following link:

The 5th SFERA-III access campaign is open until 31st January 2023. The selected projects will benefit from 1 to 4 weeks of free access to the chosen facilities for a team of up to 2 persons. Moreover, travel, accommodation and subsistence costs are reimbursed by the projects budget.
