On 4 October 2021 the Galileo Competence Center of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) received the ISO 9001 certification of its quality management system for "development of technologies and concepts for the next generations of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)"

The Galileo Competence Center is dedicated to the continuous improvement of the European navigation satellite system, Galileo. Together with DLR's scientific institutes and facilities, it analyses the performance and capabilities of Galileo and other existing systems, and develops, tests, and validates new ideas and promising technologies which are then deployed in close cooperation with industry.

Klaus Michenfelder, Lead Auditor for management systems (TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH), presented the ISO 9001 Certificate to Prof. Dr. Felix Huber, founding director of the Galileo Competence Center.
