System and Service Volume Simulation Environment

S2VSE is a software simulation tool that simulates the functional behaviour and performance parameters of satellite navigation systems. It supports both system analyses and the development of new services and applications

As an internal project of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Galileo Competence Center is engaged in the development of a new software simulation tool, the "System & Service Volume Simulation Environment" (S2VSE), with the focus on shaping the future development of the European satellite navigation system.

Modeled Systems

To this end, our project aims at reproducing and analyzing currently existing and future structures of the process architecture of the European global satellite navigation system Galileo.

This contribution is intended to further improve the reliability and performance of Galileo. To realize this goal, our project deals with the establishment of comprehensive performance analyses based on modeled systems and specially designed application scenarios. The simulation environment we have developed allows a flexible implementation of individual process steps of the Galileo space, ground and user segments in order to make directional statements and predictions about their accuracy, integrity, continuity and availability.

These findings will lay the foundation for validating the technological development of novel services and innovative applications.
