IT and Management System

The IT and Management System department (ITM) coordinates and supports the entire Galileo Competence Center. The "Project and Tool Support" group handles tasks relating to infrastructure, hardware and software as well as IT security. The "Processes, Quality Assurance and Standardisation" group deals with the topics of quality and product assurance, process management, norms and standards as well as occupational health and safety. The aim of the ITM department is to support the projects and ventures at the GK in a reliable, requirements- and service-oriented manner in order to achieve sustainable technological success.

The core tasks within the Galileo Competence Center are:

  • Planning, set-up and operation of a modern IT infrastructure with secure networks and customised hardware infrastructure for technology projects at GK
  • Operation of IT applications and their technical support
  • Risk-based approach to implementing IT security requirements in research projects
  • Monitoring of processes and IT systems, including problem solving
  • Establishment and enhancement of secure development environments (hardware, software, methods and infrastructure) for Galileo test and operations scenarios
  • Continuous development of a centralised, process-oriented, dynamic and integrated management system that covers the areas of quality and security
  • Ensuring quality in product and technology development in GK projects (e.g. "Product Assurance" in accordance with ECSS)
  • Preparation and implementation of audits
  • Project support through IT tools as well as configuration and document management
  • Development of methods and tools to support the systematic improvement from TRL 2 to TRL 8
  • Collaboration in DLR committees
  • Implementation and monitoring of compliance to DLR-internal regulations within GK
  • Monitoring and support of occupational health and safety at GK
