Technology Transfer and Implementation Department

This department will run the technical implementation, verification, and validation of planned projects. In collaboration with partners from science and industry, new technologies will be thoroughly tested in suitable laboratories, to be space-qualified for satellite missions or more generally brought to prototype level.

The core tasks within the Galileo Competence Center are:

  • Establishment and operation of an integration laboratory for construction of hardware prototypes, engineering and satellite payload simulation, and flight models
  • Planning, direction and appraisal of advanced technologies (supporting technology decisions), actual technology transfers and use of transferred technologies
  • Provision of inputs for the production of technical specifications in support of Galileo system analyses and development of evolutionary scenarios
  • Direction of planning of all activities concerning implementation, test, verification and validation of technologies and subsystems
  • Identification of suitable technologies for prototype development and technology transfer in collaboration with scientific institutes
  • Establishment and cultivation of contacts with relevant scientific and industrial partners
