DLR renews cooperation with international partners

  • Cooperation with the Norwegian and Korean space agencies continues.
  • Conference in Dubai provides a forum for an exchange between stakeholders in the space sector.
  • Focus: spaceflight

Once again, the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), which opened in Dubai on 25 October, will provide a platform to exchange ideas for more than 2000 participants from space agencies, academia and industry. In addition to meetings in the exhibition area and at technical symposia, the event also includes higher-level meetings. The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) has used the opportunity to prolong existing agreements or established new ones.

The Norwegian Space Agency (NOSA) and DLR have renewed their framework agreement. In doing so, they are continuing their joint, successful cooperation. The focus is on space surveillance, tracking and microlaunchers in particular.

Following in-depth discussions, the existing cooperation with DLR was also extended with the representatives of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI). Since 2016, KARI and DLR have been working together in the fields of satellite exploitation, space exploration and space robotics.

This year's IAC has the theme 'Inspire, Innovate & Discover for the Benefit of Humankind'. In 2020 the IAC was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The congress has been bringing major players in the space field together since 1951 to enable them to engage in intensive exchange. Every year, the IAC is hosted by a different country and follows a different theme.
