Programme Management Agency for Aviation Research

Programme Management Agency for Aviation Research

The Project Management Agency for Aviation Research (PT-LF) is an organisational unit of DLR. It supports the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz; BMWK) with the implementation of the national civil aviation research programme of the Federal Government (Luftfahrtforschungsprogramm; LuFo Klima) as well as the states of Bavaria, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg and Lower Saxony, which supplement the federal programme with their own funding programmes.

Research benefits from exchange across borders. Therefore, PT-LF communicates regularly with Joint Undertakings such as Clean Aviation and other European partners in the Research Framework Programme of the European Union. To ensure a coordinated approach at the regional, national and European level, PT-LF also functions as the national contact point for aeronautics research in the EU Research Framework Programme on behalf of BMWK.

The SME Advisory Team is another important component of the Project Management Agency for Aviation Research. In addition to the advisory service and the national contact point for companies, research institutions, universities and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the SME team provides a detailed, free advisory service tailored specifically to the needs of SMEs in aeronautics.

As a project management agency, PT-LF has a central role as a service provider for the Federal Government with extensive expertise in aeronautics research at European, national and regional level. It can therefore effectively support the Federal Government and the federal states in their efforts to promote aeronautics research in Germany in a coordinated and efficient manner and to strengthen synergies. This particular standing is unique compared to similar institutions in the European partner states.
