Dynamic Driving Simulator

Before an assistance system is tested on the road, it undergoes numerous simulations. Once an assistance function gets to an advanced product stage, the Dynamic Driving Simulator at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und raumfahrt; DLR) Institute of Transportation Systems comes into play. The simulation provided by this facility is so realistic that it is possible to make a proper assessment of the functions even in critical situations, and to ensure a safe transition to the test vehicle. Three parameters ensure a realistic ride feeling: a powerful motion system, a high-quality projection system with corresponding visualisation, and the integration of different mock-ups (replicas of vehicle cabins) for road and rail vehicles.
