Qualification

Qualification
Systematic qualification reduces costs and risks, improves the adaptation of hardware to requirements and minimises errors in research products.

The research and development projects at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) must not only fulfil the direct project requirements, but also comply with a large number of relevant norms and standards. Due to the particularly high demands placed on hardware, materials and processes in the field of aerospace, all relevant parameters and framework conditions must first be analysed on a subject-specific basis. In order to fulfil all requirements in terms of performance and quality, hardware, materials and processes must undergo project-specific or, even better, generic qualification.

The Qualification Coordinator advises and supports the respective project managers in the DLR institutes and facilities in drawing up the necessary qualification plans, taking into account applicable norms and standards.

Systematic and standardised qualification reduces costs and minimises risks in projects as well as errors in research products. The aim is to better adapt the hardware, consisting of EEE components or systems, to the needs of interested parties.
