Girls' day
Every year, the Girls‘ Day and Boys’ Day are organised throughout Germany. A day of action dedicated to career guidance for young people from the 5th grade onwards. Girls' Day places a special focus on careers in science, technology, IT and skilled crafts and aims to encourage girls to familiarise themselves with these professions.
As Galileo Competence Center, we naturally want to support this ‘Girls’ Future Day’ and have therefore invited a group of schoolgirls to visit us.
After a short tour of the various DLR institutes, the participants finally went to the RPTF laboratory, where they were able to investigate and experience the effect of signals. Afterwards, the potential young female researchers learnt exciting fun facts about satellites and space travel in a quiz - for example, that it rains diamonds on Neptune. At the end of the day, the relationship between the planets was simulated and the inner courtyard of our building was decorated with a true-to-scale representation of the solar system.
On this day, we were not only able to spark interest in aviation and aerospace, but also provided exciting and new insights into our daily work, which will encourage the schoolgirls and make them curious about their future careers!
After this successful start, we are already looking forward to the next Girls' Day with hopefully even more enthusiastic participants!
