The first TanDEM-X mosaic of Iceland

The first TanDEM-X mosaic of Iceland
As part of the TanDEM-X mission, the strips of terrain recorded by the two satellites are processed into elevation models measuring 50 by 30 kilometres, which are then combined into a global digital elevation model. This first mosaic shows Iceland, which, because of its location north of 60 degrees latitude, could not be covered by the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) in 2000 and was surveyed from space for the first time by TanDEM-X.
