Colour plan view of the plains around the Gordii Dorsum range
This colour plan view shows part of the southern portion of Gordii Dorsum. Particularly noticeable are the numerous, narrow crests and furrows, which can be seen in the upper image section (west of the Dorsum). These are yardangs, which were carved out of the rock by dust and sand particles travelling in the direction of the prevailing wind.
