Yardangs in the plains around the Gordii Dorsum escarpment
This perspective view shows part of the southern portion of Gordii Dorsum. Particularly conspicuous are the numerous, narrow, parallel crests and furrows. These are yardangs, which were carved out of the rock by dust and sand particles travelling in the direction of the prevailing wind.
