Luftwaffe Transall C-160D
The Transall C-160D is a medium-size tactical transport aircraft designed and built by a German-French consortium. Owing to its design and construction, the Transall is well suited for use on makeshift airfields, such as are common in Africa. In the configuration with enhanced self-protection (erweitertem Selbstschutz; ESS) the aircraft has additional protective measures. The Transall C-160D is a high-wing, twin-engined transport plane developed for military use. The tail is also mounted as high as possible to accommodate cargo through a large ramp at the rear.
