Alexander Gerst took his first photo of Germany on 14 June 2014. The orbital dynamics and his work schedule made this possible. For the DLR student competition 'Earth Guardian - Beschützer der Erde', Gerst recorded on 18 June 2014 several videos that show the different faces of the earth: the seas and oceans, land, mountains and forests, rivers and lakes. The purpose of these videos is to make the elementary school students realise how valuable, unique and vulnerable our home planet is.
