Hawaii, or the 'Big Island', photographed by German ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst, who has been living on board the International Space Station since 29 May 2014. Two of the five volcanoes on the island, Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, are clearly visible. This photograph was taken on 24 August 2014.
