The hatch to ATV-5 is open
After the successful docking with the International Space Station by the fifth and final supply spacecraft, ATV-5 'Georges Lemaître', on 12 August 2014, German ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst opened the connecting hatch a day later. For protection against airborne particles that might have been released during the launch of the ATV and could get into the eyes or lungs, he wears a mask and goggles.
