Vertical farm – multi-level plant cultivation
‘Vertical Farm 2.0’, designed by researchers from the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) in collaboration with international partners, will enable multi-storey cultivation of plants in large cities. This would allow for extremely short transport routes and would not need arable land. Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs could be cultivated and harvested all year round.
