The far-infrared spectrometer GREAT
The far-infrared spectrometer GREAT (German Receiver for Astronomy at Terahertz Frequencies) is attached to the telescope instrument flange (blue) installed in the Jumbo jet. The instrument (metallic colour, right) allows observations in the far infrared range and is to be used together with the enhanced upGREAT spectrometer during the first eight measurement flights.
