DLR-DAAD Fellowships

International doctoral and postdoctoral students may apply for fellowships: The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) and the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst; DAAD) are recruiting more international researchers and scientists for Germany. For this reason, the two organisations have set up the joint "DLR-DAAD Research Fellowships" programme.

The programme aims to attract outstanding international doctoral and postdoctoral students as well as senior scientists for short- and long-term research visits to DLR institutes in Germany. With this programme, DLR and the DAAD are contributing to the further internationalisation of German science and research. At the same time, they are building a network of friends and partners of Germany by supporting leading researchers all over the world.

Fellowships are offered in DLR's four main research areas: Aeronautics, Space, Transportation, and Energy. The DLR institutes formulate the specifications for the fellowships, and the DAAD announces them through its international network. The DLR institutes are responsible for the final selection of research fellows, after a preliminary examination by the DAAD. The DLR institutes also provide the funding for the fellowships. The DAAD will cover other expenses, including those for preparation courses in German and supervision of the research fellows. Upon completion of their DLR research visit, all 'DLR-DAAD Fellows' will join the DAAD's global alumni network.

How to apply

The call for applications is published on the DAAD website. Applications must be submitted exclusively via this portal. Further individual scholarships will be added to the programme on an ongoing basis.
