Signing of the contract for the satellite instrument METimage
On 20 September 2016, the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) and Airbus Defence and Space signed an agreement for the design, construction and testing of the satellite instrument METimage. A Cooperation Agreement between DLR and the European Organisation for the Exploitation meteorological satellites EUMETSAT was also confirmed. Those present at the contract signing were (from left to right): Eckard Settelmeyer, Director of Earth Observation, Navigation and Science from Airbus Defence and Space Germany, Michael Menking, Director of Earth Observation, Navigation and Science Airbus Defence and Space, Alain Ratier, EUMETSAT Director General, Tobias Miethaner, Head of the Department Digital Society at the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Gerd Gruppe, DLR Executive Board Member responsible for the DLR Space Administration and Andreas Cloud, Head of the Department Central Tasks at the DLR Space Administration.
