Tour of the Landing and Impact Research Facility (LandIR)
The German and US-American students visit the Landing and Impact Research Facility (LandIR), better known as the ‘gantry’. The facility was commissioned in 1965. Neil Armstrong and Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin trained here for the final 150 feet of the descent to the lunar surface by Apollo 11.
