Hayabusa2 return capsule during the ‘final mile’
After decelerating due to the friction from Earth's atmosphere, at an altitude of 10 kilometres the Hayabusa2 sample return capsule releases its front heat shield and deploys a parachute. This parachute is 'visible' to radar (artistic representation) and transmits a signal to help a recovery team locate it. A few minutes later, the capsule lands in the southern Australian desert.
