On 2 December 2021, US astronauts Thomas Marshburn and Kayla Barron left the Space Station for six and a half hours to replace a defective radio antenna. The crew worked very quickly and efficiently. Halfway through the spacewalk, the astronauts were already more than an hour ahead of schedule. During this activity, Maurer provided support from inside the ISS for his two fellow crewmembers, using the Canadarm2 robotic arm.
