Laser scanner for measuring the distance between the ship and the harbour wall at Hannover Quay in Wilhelmshaven
A current research project includes the development of a ‘parking assist’ application to facilitate the more complicated docking and casting-off manoeuvres in harbour and channel areas. This makes it possible to determine the distance between the quay wall and the ship with adapted laser sensors, thus enabling the ship’s crew and the pilots to manoeuvre more safely. Here, a research vessel docks with the help of a sensor.
