Digital terrain models generated using data acquired by the stereo image channels of the HRSC camera system on ESA's Mars Express spacecraft can be used to create perspective views of the Martian landscape. Differences in material and texture become more apparent when the contrast in the colour data is enhanced. Inside the crater, which is located in the southern highland region of Aonia Terra, is a dark dune field made up of volcanic sands.
