Various climate-neutral aircraft concepts
Depending on the range and size of an aircraft, different propulsion concepts prove to be optimal. Configurations with distributed propulsion systems (lower left) as well as turboprop and turbofan drives can be seen here. These can be operated hybrid-electrically by means of hydrogen fuel cells as well as by direct combustion of hydrogen or SAF. In the evaluation, a close race has so far emerged between the technology options based on hydrogen and SAF.
