Astris and Brundhilde - the German contribution to the Europa Rocket
The Astris upper-stage engine was intended to power the 3rd stage of the Europa rocket and was tested at Lampoldshausen between 1964 and 1973. The entire 3rd stage (christened "Brunhilde" by the engineers) with fuel tank, combustion chamber and nozzle was mainly made of steel and titanium, which is light and resilient.
