Jack Schmitt in his element as a field geologist. For over an hour the astronauts studied an 18 metre-long rock that had rolled down a hillside outside the image and into the valley. Gene Cernan actually wanted to write his daughter’s name in the dust on the rock, but forgot to do so, so the rock now bears her name instead.
