Schlörwagen

Schlörwagen
The Schlörwagen was an experimental car that caused a sensation in 1939. Its wind resistance, measured as a so-called drag coefficient (Cw value), was sensationally low at 0.186. Follow-up measurements by VW in the 1970s on a model even attested the Schlörwagen a Cw of only 0.15. Today's passenger cars, with a Cw value of 0.24 to 0.3, do not come close to the Schlörwagen's favourable aerodynamic shape. The picture shows a model of the Schlörwagen in the wind tunnel: The close-fitting flow is clearly visible.
