The Heinrich Hertz satellite and its mission
The Heinrich Hertz satellite is expected to reach its target position, located at 0.5 degrees East in geostationary orbit, in early July 2023. Heinrich Hertz will then operate from an altitude of approximately 36,000 kilometres in the equatorial plane and will always remain above the same point on Earth's surface. This point is located slightly to the south of Ghana in the Atlantic Ocean. From there, the satellite will communicate with ground stations on Earth. The Heinrich Hertz mission is intended to test new technologies in space under real operating conditions. Experiments will also be conducted on new communications, antenna and satellite technology.
