German-Japanese friendship in microgravity
This time, a very special experiment is also on board the 41st campaign. A team from Japan is investigating planet formation together with a German team. This makes the DLR parabolic flights into microgravity increasingly international. The German-Japanese friendship in the parabolic aircraft was celebrated by Katrin Stang, Parabolic Flight Programme Manager at the German Space Agency at DLR, and Yuki Kimura, Project Manager of the German-Japanese experiment 'ice-DUST', which is investigating how ice nanoparticles and water molecules clump together to form ever larger dust particles, the formation of which ultimately contributes to our understanding of planet formation.
