During its second encounter with an asteroid, NASA's Lucy spacecraft captured a close-up view of asteroid Donaldjohanson on 20 April 2025. Measuring eight kilometres in length, the asteroid is larger than expected. This image is one of the highest-resolution images taken by the L'LORRI camera onboard Lucy, revealing landscape features down to 50 metres in size. The different densities of impact craters on the two parts of the binary system are striking.
