Swirling textures in Jupiter's atmosphere
NASA's Juno mission captured these swirling atmospheric currents in Jupiter's northern mid-latitudes. This colour- and contrast-enhanced image shows a complex pattern on the planet's cloud cover. 'Citizen Scientist' Kevin M. Gill processed this JunoCam image, which was acquired on 10 April 2020 when the Juno spacecraft performed its 26th close flyby of the planet. At the time the image was acquired, the spacecraft was approximately 8650 kilometres from the cloud cover at a latitude of about 50 degrees north.
