DLR's 'elib' repository contains all of DLR's scientific / technical publications, some with full text. The systematic and complete collection of data began in 1990.

The DLR's publication server 'elib' uses the GNU EPrints software. This software has been developed at the University of Southampton (Department of Electronics and Computer Science) and is available free of charge (see http://www.eprints.org).

Permanent archiving is guaranteed. A wide range of different options are available for searching DLR publications.

With the introduction of the DLR publication server 'elib', the German Aerospace Center (DLR) supports the Open Access movement and in particular the 'Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities'. The core principle of Open Access is that publicly funded research should also make its results publicly accessible, thereby improving the exchange of knowledge in the long term and accelerating the publication of research results.
