The aircraft of the future should be quieter, consume less fuel and emit fewer exhaust gases. For space applications, materials, technologies and components must also be capable of withstanding maximum loads. This is what the approximately 80 employees of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Augsburg are investigating.

At the DLR Center for Lightweight-Production-Technology (ZLP), production technologies and manufacturing methods for lightweight components for aerospace are developed and optimised. The DLR Institute of Test and Simulation for Gas Turbines is also being established in Augsburg. The institute researches and develops engine technologies for aircraft turbines of the future.

In the DLR_School_Lab University of Augsburg, students can independently carry out extraordinary experiments on current research topics of the DLR institutes in Augsburg and the University of Augsburg and discover their fascination for MINT topics.
