DLR Washington office

The DLR's Washington office was established in 1984. It is the central point of contact for DLR partners in the USA and Canada. The office focuses primarily on the establishment, maintenance and further development of research and technology partnerships in all of DLR's fields of research, alongside supporting the German Space Agency at DLR in performing its tasks for the Federal Republic of Germany and for the DLR Projektträger. The office also represents the interests of various federal ministries and German industry in connection with DLR topics.

The DLR office is part of a German office-sharing arrangement with RGIT (Representative of German Industry and Trade), gtai (German Trade and Invest), and the DFG (German Research Foundation) in a shared office suite on the 7th floor of the Millennium Building, near Dupont Circle and the Farragut Metro Station. The office suite includes a meeting room for up to 20 people equipped with modern presentation and conference technology. An additional conference center will be available on the building's roof starting in April 2026. The premises are large enough to host lectures and receptions for up to 50 people and can be used for events, meetings and sessions of the DLR and its cooperation partners.
