Infrared view of the test receiver
The infrared image shows the temperature distribution – between about 300 degrees Celsius (green) and 600 degrees Celsius (pink) – on the receiver’s surface. In the first test run in late September 2013, the researchers were able to produce hot air surpassing 600 degrees Celsius with the receiver.
