The Barringer crater in Arizona, USA, was created about 50,000 years ago by a meteorite impact. It has a diameter of almost 1200 metres and a depth of approximately 180 metres. The German ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst took this photograph of the crater on 25 June 2014 from the International Space Station.
